New York based musician and visual artist, Cake Kills aka Zaz Zielinski, has the ambition to match his passion for both music and film. His parents were musicians and film makers respectively who helped shaped Zielinski’s interest in a wide range of musical and film genres. Zielinski aims to tell stories that rely equal parts on visuals and audio.
In the video for his spaced out electro-pop anthem A-Ok, featuring Ian Young of M83, Zielinski collaborated with photographer Phil Knott to tell the story of a time “when your biggest concern was who was going to drive you around your small hometown and if you could get away with coming home after curfew.” The video is a stunning and captivating journey that shows off Zielinski’s ability and potential to become a game-changing storyteller.
Cake Kills’ vision and ambition has certainly not gone unnoticed as established NYC recording engineer Kat Diehl and AlL-P of MSTRKRFT have committed themselves to helping Cake Kills through mentorship and collaboration.
