DWNTWN is a indie pop/rock band from Los Angeles formed in 2010 by singer-songwriter Jamie Leffler and guitarist Robert Cepeda. Leffler spent most of her youth on a tour bus with her father Howie Epstein, who was the longtime bass player for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Leffler’s relationship with her father however was tragically cut short after her father’s death in 2003 – when she was only 14. After years of being hesitant on talking about her father’s passing, Leffler along with Cepeda and drummer Daniel Vancieri released their latest album “Racing Time” on July 21, 2017. This album by DWNTWN signifies relationships, coming of age, and the loss of Leffler’s father. Leffler explains, “The significance of the album title is that time is finite on the planet and don’t let fear govern your choices.”
